Ultrasound Initiative
“Save lives by helping women choose life through the opportunity to view their unborn children on ultrasound machines at pro-life pregnancy centers. This initiative is funded by Knights of
Columbus state and local councils with matching grants from the Supreme Council’s Culture of Life Fund.”
Through the Order’s Ultrasound Initiative, the New Mexico State Council, Council 3355 and Council 15999 placed an Ultrasound machine at The Pregnancy Help Center of Alamogordo on
September 19, 2020. Attending the dedication along with other Knights were: WSD Daniel Vigil & Lady Martina, IPSD John Brault & Lady Nancy, SEA Mike Ransom, DD18 Damian Hall & Lady Holly,
Council 3355 GK Marion (Bud) Duryea & Lady Cathy, Council 15977 GK Gary Stevens & Lady Mary, Field Agent James Matisse and Fr. Emanuel Stevens, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church.
The Pregnancy Help Center’s Director, Ms. Jane Richardson, expressed her gratitude and said she was overwhelmed by the response from the community and the Knights of Columbus. She
hopes the Knights can place ultrasound machines in other pregnancy centers in New Mexico.  The following article and pictures about the event appeared in the Alamogordo Daily News
The Pregnancy Help Center gets ultrasound machine from Knights of Columbus Nicole Maxwell – Alamogordo Daily News Jane Richardson has been the director of The Pregnancy Help Center since 2004. In that time, she has seen how an ultrasound image can help expecting mothers make difficult decisions. The Pregnancy Help Center, 1222 North White Sands Boulevard #B, received an ultrasound machine on September 19, 2020, which was partially funded by the Knights of Columbus. “This is a real community effort and that’s exciting to me because it communicates to our
young ladies that they’re valuable and there’s people behind them,” Richardson said. The ultrasound machine helps The Pregnancy Help Center continue its work providing assistance to women who become pregnant by offering free pregnancy tests, pregnancy verification for Medicaid, limited ultrasound services and Building Blocks Exchange. If a woman does a pregnancy test at the center and it comes back positive, the woman qualifies for a complimentary ultrasound. The ultrasounds are only available in the first trimester of pregnancy and have a limited scope, The Pregnancy Help Center’s website states.
